Family photos are not about perfect behavior. They’re not about matching outfits or forcing smiles until someone cries in the parking lot.
They’re about remembering.
Because one day you’ll look back and miss the things that feel hard right now. The noise. The mess. The tiny hands. The way your kid runs to you like you’re home base. The way your teenager pretends they don’t care, then leans into you when they think no one sees.
I’m a family photographer in Coeur d’Alene and Spokane, and I photograph families across North Idaho and Eastern Washington. That includes Coeur d’Alene, Hayden, Post Falls, and Spokane, plus the surrounding areas when it makes sense for your crew.
My style stays simple: connection first. We’ll get a few classic “everyone together” photos, because you’ll want those. But the real magic lives in between. The hugs. The giggles. The chaos. The quiet moments you forget happened until you see them frozen in a photo.
If your kids melt down, we don’t panic. If someone refuses to smile, we don’t force it. I build sessions around movement and real interaction. We walk. We play. We reset when we need to. I keep things light and clear so your family can be your family.
Coeur d’Alene gives us open shade, lake light, and that soft glow through the trees in the evening. Spokane gives us great parks, clean backdrops, and a lot of variety without a long drive. If you have a place that matters to you, we can shoot there. If you don’t, I’ll recommend locations that fit your family’s energy and your kids’ ages.
I’ll also help you plan the basics that make the biggest difference:
the best time of day for light and moods
what to wear (coordinated, not identical)
how to prep without making it a whole event
how to keep it fun so it feels natural
These photos get more valuable every year. They become the ones you frame. The ones you print for grandparents. The ones you find ten years later and feel your throat tighten because you forgot how small they were.
If you’re ready to schedule family portraits in Coeur d’Alene or Spokane, send me your preferred dates, the ages of your kids, and any must-have groupings (grandparents, siblings, pets, whatever matters). I’ll help you choose a location, pick the right time, and keep the experience easy.
Scroll through the work below. If it feels like the kind of family story you want to hold onto, let’s make it real.
Easily one of the biggest reasons I got into photography was to help families capture beautiful photographs that they will cherish for a lifetime.
There is just something so perfect and beautiful about doing everything you can to bring the smiles out, make everyone comfortable and then having the camera ready at the correct time. It brings people closer together and, I believe, every time those families see the photographs up on their mantle, they are instantly reminded of how special their family is. What it is that brings everyone closer together and why that closeness is so important to everything they do. Every single day.
Thank you for letting me be a part of that in your lifetime.
